Tanzanite and Diamond Pendant with Platinum Chain

Originally discovered in 1967, Tiffany & Company, named the stone Tanzanite. It is found in the Usumburu Mountains the border the Umba Valley of norther Tanzania. Tanzanite occurs in gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple and green. The gen is interesting because of it exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color.
This pendant features a tanzanite set within a stylized diamond set bezel supported by a lattice under gallery completed by a stylized diamond set bail. The pendant is supported by a twenty inch length platinum designer style chain, terminating in a lobster claw clasp. Bright polish finish with milgrain detailing. Trademark is A.I. identified with markings of "PT950". Containing:
One prong set cushion mixed cut natural tanzanite, measuring 23.79 x 20.35 x 14.59mm, exact weight 55.76ct., type I, medium dark, moderately strong. Clarity is eye clean, Violet-Blue color, (GIA cert) graded loose prior to setting in the pendant. GIA Report #1235787676.
Forty-five prong set round brilliant cut diamonds approximate total weight of 45 stones = 0.55ct. Graded in the setting, clarity VS-1 to VS-2, color E - F.
